Implementation Of Every Policy Is As Important As The Policy Itself – General Secretary

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, has urged church leaders to endeavour to know, understand and be prepared to contribute their best towards the implementation of all operational policies, practices and procedures of the church.

This, he explained, is necessary because the success or otherwise of the policies that have been made in the past and those that will be made in the future, depend on their unflinching support for the leadership of the church and their willingness to make the policies work.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi said this on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, when he presented a paper titled: “Church Practices & Policies” at the ongoing Global Ministers’ Conference (GMC19) at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) at Gomoa-Fetteh.

In his presentation, the General Secretary emphasized that, no matter how convincing and well thought-through a policy might be, it will remain a mere paperwork until those in charge and the masses are willing to make the policies see the light of day.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi said that, since church policies have intentional and inadvertent outcomes, they may not always be popular among ministers and church leaders. This, according to him, sometimes spark a widespread dissatisfaction among the ministers, who are key implementers of church policies, to mitigate against the successful implementation of such “unpopular” policies.

“But if we are united, with the understanding that, the visions and church policies are geared towards implementing the plans and will of God, then ministers need to realize the need to put the ultimate vision of the broader church above every other interest,” he said.

The General Secretary also stressed the need for the ministers to communicate the policies to the understanding of the members. This, he said, can be done by owning the policies, looking beyond their self-interests and contextualizing them to ensure that the objectives and expectations for formulating the policies are met.

“As a culture, church policies have existed since the days of Pastor James McKeown. Policies have undoubtedly assisted in keeping the church in shape and to achieve the visions of our forerunners,” he said.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi further stated that, just as it is important to implement policies, it is important that leadership monitors the implementation process and make alteration where necessary in order to meet its goals.

“Strategic implementation is not a rigid process, but a dynamic procedure. It is the responsibility of leadership to put a monitoring system in place, analyze the data that is being generated during the implementation process and make the necessary changes to make the implementation more efficient,” he noted.

Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi concluded his presentation by urging church leaders to embrace church policies and to be abreast with them to ensure its effective implementation and to achieve the desired results.
